My belyashi

Ingredients:
1/2 cup very warm milk
3/4 cup warm water
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt

Filling
1/2 lb coarsely ground beef or ground chicken
1 small onion grated
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Oil for frying, as needed

To Prepare:
In a mixing bowl combine warm milk, warm water, yeast, sugar, salt and two tablespoons of flour. Mix
well and set aside for 20-30 minutes to activate yeast.
When yeast turns bubbly, mix in the rest of the flour a little at a time. The dough should be sticky but
workable. Cover and let “grow” for about two hours, should become double in size.

To make filling
In a mixing bowl mix beef or chicken, grated onion, salt and pepper then set aside.
Place oil in frying pan, cover, place on burner and set to medium heat.
When dough has doubled in size, oil your hands, take a small handful of dough make it into a patty.
Put about two tablespoons of meat filling in the middle and pinch it closed together. Cover pan and  fry
for 4-5miniutes.  To allow to cool, oil the cooling board very well to prevent sticking to the board.
